Great! Thanks, I was afraid that, due to a joint-venture with Rover, they
had put a Rover engine in a Honda body. So I will take advantage of the robustness of Honda. -- Antoine de Champeaux +33 (0)6 60 48 55 75 ch@mpeaux.net "amateur" <yeah@right.com> a écrit dans le message de news:c0idco$tni$1@news.siemens.at... > Basically it's a 4th generation Civic with 5 doors for european market. The Concerto autos use a Honda engine but the Manuals use a Rover K series
engine - which is prone to head gasket failure regularly. "Antoine de Champeaux" <champeaux@9online.fr> wrote in message news:c0imql$1fq$1@apollon.grec.isp.9tel.net... > Great! I thought the only Rover engine in a Honda body would be a 2.0 litre 105hp turbo diesel in Accord TDi. New Accords don't have this engine anymore, but rather use Honda's own diesel unit. |

My brain has gone it was the Rover version of the Concerto - the 216 that had the Rover Engine with a Honda engine only in the auto. I should know better than this, been driving numerous Hondas for 15 years. Apologies. |

Hey, look at what I found in old discussion groups (having searched for
"honda concerto rover engine" in Google groups): http://groups.google.fr/groups?q=hon...hp.com&rnum=12 http://groups.google.fr/groups?q=hon...n.co.uk&rnum=3 http://groups.google.fr/groups?q=hon...l.co.uk&rnum=5 http://groups.google.fr/groups?q=hon....edu.sg&rnum=7 and also http://www.xs4all.nl/~mjs/storycivic.html so actually my Honda is a Honda with a Honda engine; only the equivalent Rover had a choice between Rover and Honda engines Antoine "amateur" <yeah@right.com> a écrit dans le message de news:c0qdmr$kf1$1@news.siemens.at... > > "john" <@dsl.pipex.com> wrote in message > news:402df177$0$10339$cc9e4d1f@news-text.dial.pipex.com... > > The Concerto autos use a Honda engine but the Manuals use a Rover K series > > engine - which is prone to head gasket failure regularly. > > > > Do you have any links to back this up? > > I thought the only Rover engine in a Honda body would be a 2.0 litre 105hp > turbo diesel in Accord TDi. I thought the current diesel Accords used the Isuzu unit produced in Poland. Rgds, George Macdonald "Just because they're paranoid doesn't mean you're not psychotic" - Who, me?? |

The 1.4 is a Rover K sreies, and a right dog at that. 1.6 is Honda and
bulletproof if the oil is reglarly changed. My last 1.6 had done over 180,000 miles when sold, and still did not need oil topping up in between routine changes. Bob |

Accord 2.2 CDTi with Honda's own common rail turbo diesel produces 140hp at 4000 rpm and 340Nm at 2000 rpm. I've read some good reviews. 9.3 secs 0-100 km/h. 210hm/h top speed. Low fuel consumption even for a diesel. Easy to find with Google. The current Civic 1.7 CDTi still uses a non-Honda (Isuzu) unit, producing 101hp. All of this is of course only for european market. |
