How does the Pilot EX-L climate control system work? I know how to
*operate* it, but I'm curious about its workings. On "Full Auto" how does it determines what vents to blow through? I ran it on full auto yesterday at 0F and I only ever got heat out of the "floor" position. I don't think there was any air blown via the defrost vents in the dash, at least not the couple of times I checked. I was surprised that no air every came out the two center vents in the console, during our -20 weather last week it struck me that the best overall "comfort" of the vehicle when blowing hot air in an otherwise cold vehicle was from the floor and dash vents combined. On half-auto or whatever its called, does the temperature reading have anything to do with the temperature of the air blown out the vents? Even after a long drive when the inside temperature must have been close to the dash setting of 68 degrees, the air out of the vents was very hot, even when running the blower at high speed. |

My understanding, based on some trial & error: on full auto, sends air out the top vents after the interior is warm, in my case 65. When I set it to mode, with air directed to floor and windshield, sends air there. When cold, blower runs at high speed, not so good since that's cold air. I generally set to full auto until it gets warm, than mode so air doesn't blow out the top into my face. This seems to work fairly well. -- Bob Burns Mill Hall PA |
