I am thinking about buying a used 1999-2000 Honda CRV LX
2WD automatic to replace my wife's 97 Honda Civic EX 5 spd coupe. We have a 16 yr old daughter just learning to drive and she is having a real problem adjusting to the manual tranny in the civic. Does anyone here have any advice about the 99-00 CRV ? I only want the 2WD drive model as the 4WD seems to really sap the power on the automatic. Here in Houston, Texas we do not need the 4WD at all. I am also wondering how many miles a maintained version of the CRV should last. Thanks, Lynn McGuire |

Don't think you really need to worry about the 4 vs. 2 wheel drive
stuff. The All Wheel Drive only pushes on two wheels unless there is wheel slip. Like the Subaru commercials, "it transfers power from the wheels that slip, to the wheels that grip" or something like that. I have an Element which is the same drivetrain I believe. I think the auto trans gets a little better mileage because the fifth speed in the Element isn't as high a gear at the auto trans... believe it or not. I predict you will love the CRV and there are lots of things of a custom nature one can do to their CRV if they desire. The journey starts here: http://www.hondasuv.com/crv/login.ph...p=1163&start=0 Enjoy |

My wife drove a 2004 4WD CRV EX and then a 2004 2WD Element LX, both with auto. The 2WD element was noticeably quicker than the 4WD CRV (important here in Houston) > I have an Element which is the same drivetrain I believe. first, you should visit www.hondasuv.com you will find everything you need
to know there. I have a 99 CRV 2xd and have never wished I had the 4wd. I would not give up my V for any reason. -- WDW is a Way of Life "Lynn McGuire" <NOSPAM.winsim@NOSPAM.winsim.com> wrote in message news:4023ba74$0$125$811e409b@news.mylinuxisp.com.. . > > Don't think you really need to worry about the 4 vs. 2 wheel drive > > stuff.
