My 4-cyl Accord EX doesn't have the gauge, but someone's idea of using a
digital thermometer with remote sensor led me to: Looking at the installation instructions on hparts.com, I notice the sensor is located toward the bottom of the grille about a foot off the ground. How a sensor, located so close to the ground and so close to the engine, can accurately measure temperature is beyond me. I'd think the best place is just below the top of the rear window. Howard |

My sense has been the evolution of outside temperature gauges was to
alert drivers to freezing conditions on the roadway. Hence they were mounted low and towards the front where the heat from the car wouldn't impact the reading as much. Both my Passat and Honda manuals state that stop and go city driving is likely to yield an artificially high reading.
