Understand. But it doesn't work this well in actual practice. In my
earlier post, I described a recent drive where the temp was below zero and below that of the car when started (car was cold in a garage about 10 degrees warmer than outside temperature). After 15 minutes of driving, most of which was over 19 miles an hour for more than 90 seconds, the gauge had still not gotten to the actual temperature. The description of the rising temperature reading in 2 degree intervals every minute or two matches my experience when it is dropping -- as described above. The temp dropped in 2 degree increments but failed to reach the actual temperature (a difference of only 10 degrees) after the 15 minute drive. If what you state is the spec, then Honda needs to replace mine. However, listening to others here, I'm apparently not the only one. If the logic you outline worked correctly, I'd be happy. Unfortunately in my case at least, it does not. Thanks for posting the information. I don't have a service manual. Can you tell me how to calibrate my temperature gauge? A repeat request. Does anyone know this procedure? Thanks.

Usually, I always look at it in the morning and the morning TV show I watch shows the temperature in the corner of the screen. So I'm pretty sure that I would have noticed if the gauge was always showing the temperature the last time I drove. For adjusting, here it is (I haven't check in my manual, but some people say it is in, others that it is not): When the temperature is displayed (not trip A or B, just the odometer and temp) just hold the trip odometer Select/Reset button for 10 seconds and cycle through the -3,-2, 1, 0 1, 2, 3 settings(one second interval). When you reach the desired value release the knob. |

Thanks very much. I'll give it a try. I don't find this anywhere in
the manual. On Tue, 3 Feb 2004 11:18:14 -0500, "Paul Bielec" <me@no.spam> wrote: > >"TL" <tlehman@visi.com> wrote in message >news:0p8v10h4dvpqdqqbt6dhnqf6jo1mgqidq5@4ax.com.. . >> A repeat request. I can confirm that this procedure works for the 03 Accord as well. The
only difference is that there is no setting where the odometer and temp are displayed. Seems odd, but the only combinations are odometer & trip A, temp & trip A, and temp & trip B. I found putting it on temp & trip A worked (I'd bet temp & trip B works as well ... I think the point is that the temp has to be showing). Thank for this information. Makes a big difference being able to calibrate the gauge.
