Default 2004 CRV heater/AC

Having been following the Civic thread, I note that on my new CRV, the AC
does not appear to come on automatically. Or am I missing something?
Maybe too many folks complained....

It only comes out when it's in defrost mode. The A/C light is not lit,
but you can feel it kick in.

Yeah I meant on defrost of course. But I did not realize that the a/c was
kicking in. I'll have to check it today.
Does anyone know if the de-programming sequence is the same for a CRV?

Since I tend to leave it on defrost a lot in the winter (with temp setting
on warm), if the compressor cycles on, having the extra load on engine would
be a definate negative.

It does come on and on my 2002 CR-V the AC light comes on too.
The sequence is the same except that the position dial has to be at the
second last position to the left i.e. not "max AC" but "from the dash".

I will doubel check tommorrow morning, but I am almost certain that on my 04
the light does not come on. I wonder if it's been de-programmed...?

Enough speculation. Will confirm when I get a chance to test all the
permutations.

If it's still in factory's original programming, the A/C light does not
come on. If it has been reprogrammed, the light comes on and you can
turn it off manually.

Must have changed with time because with my 2002, before reprogramming, the
light was coming on.
Now, it still does but I can switch it off.
