Default 1993 prelude questions

i see theres 2 models for the above, a 2.2 v-tec and a 2.2 SI v-tec (typeR
in the uk?)

whats the differences in spec - bhp, torque, 0-60 times, 1/4mile times etc?
more intrested in the 2.2 v-tec non SI model.

also, what years did this model span across?

any common faults or things that could cause problems?

thanks for any info

There was never a Prelude Type-R, anywhere (non-ebay stickered anyway).
There was a Type-S but that came later...

Both are similar, if in the UK the SI VTEC will be a JDM import... slightly
higher compression/climate control. See www.preludecrazy.com for a
comparison of Prelude models.

2.2 non-VTEC will be an import. If you don't want VTEC consider the 2.3?

oh nooo...... want the 2.2 vtec faster than the 2.3 by around 1sec i`ve
seen.

not keen on a JDM model (dispite it being better than the UK spec) due to
parts avaiblitity. i would be correct in believing that JDM is slightly
different to the UK available parts?

thanks for the url - i`ll go have a look now.

do the preludes rust, or have a common fault? (suspension bushes maybe,
weird tyre wear?). my 1993 civic is starting to rust around the archs, and
not keen on the prelude doing the same. ie - maybe they galvanised the
body/rust proofed it better?

Very very few differences. Wouldn't say one is inferior to the other - just
depends what you want. The UK car is pretty well loaded whereas the JDM came
as a basic car with a long list of available options. Things like airbags /
ABS / 4WS were options in Japan.
If you want a VTEC without 4WS, you'll need to go for an import.

Nothing a Honda dealer won't be able to source for you - failing that
there's plenty of crashed JDM Preludes being broken up and down the country
if second hand parts will do.

No idea. Mine's a '94 JDM with no rust at all - so far!
