Default Real time AWD

Does the CR-V/Element AWD work the same way going forward and in reverse?

Do you spend much time cornering on ice in reverse?
Does it really matter wether or not you have AWD or just 4WD in reverse?

Maybe he's thinking what happens if he goes into a ditch, but have trees in
front of him and can't drive forward.

However, I have no idea if the RT-AWD works when your car is in reverse or
not. My guess is, probably not.

TCS,

The AWD in a CRV has nothing to do with cornering, unless you're
spinning one front wheel when you're cornering, on a regular basis.

As to answering the original question, the sales materials state it will
engage whenever there's a difference in speed between the front wheels
and back wheels. It should work in reverse, but somebody posted the
other day that it didn't for him. If you lock up the rear wheels with
the park brake, the fronts will lock up too. I don't know. :-(

I JUST washed our CRV, or I'd go out to the back 40 and find out for
you, sorry.

My question comes from another post in which someone said that stuck in a
specific position, he was able to go forward no problem, but had problems
backing up.
When you park in deep snow or it did snow over night, backing up might be
the only option to get out.
