I have a 97 CR-V and the signal lights won't cancel when you turn the
wheel back. I realize there is probably something small piece of plastic broken on the mechanism. However, my real concern is working on the steering column so close to the air bag (SRS system) as I would hate to set the air bag off by accident. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to disengage the air bag so I can easily work on the switch to fix or replace it. Any similar Honda vehicle would have a similiar system. -- Lindsay Thachuk in Western Canada with the World's best computer the Acorn Risc PC - the only StrongARM Desktop in ARMStrong running a reliable, efficient, and stable OS. |

On my 92 Civic, there is a small access cover on the neck of the steering
wheel. Remove the 2 screws. Remove the yellow resistor plug from its storage. Disconnect the airbag connector, then put that yellow plug on the airbag connector. I had a same problem on a 2001 Civic after an accident. When they
reinstalled the steering wheel, they didn't aligh some plastic tabs correctly and it was causing the flashers not to cancel. They fixed it in 5 minutes when I went back so I don't think that you need to disconnect anything.
