If its a gas plasma display like it sounds like it is, they dim with age
as the gas becomes inert. Not much you can do. However if your display is lit by indicacent lights, then some of them are blown out and can be replaced. Check an electronic component supplier. The backlighting is fine. > > ============= Drake, The tiny bulbs inside the older stereos have little colored rubber 'condoms' on them. Light blue on many Acuras, green on lots of Hondas, but ORANGE (yech) on the original CRVs. These 'filters' get burned up with time, and the bulbs blacken from the inside too. Dust also accumulates on the clear plastic parts that are supposed to carry the light to the desired knob or button. Instructions for removal start here. You'll find the correct spot. http://www.carstereohelp.com/strhonda.htm Slip the stereo out. Try taking the bulbs out and cleaning them (and thier condoms). Blow out the dust with a pressure hose. Not sure where to suggest replacement bulbs. I just stole some out of a dead stereo I picked up at a charity shop, and glued the condoms on because they wouldn't fit. No jokes, OK ?!?!? Let us know how it goes, eh? 'Curly' ================= |
