After driving, I sometimes smell something that smells like burning
rubber after I get out of my '03 Accord EX-L. My sense is that I smell it when I walked around the back of the car, but then again, I usually walk around the back when I park at home or in many ramps. Not very strong, but definitely there. Anyone else noticed this? Ideas? |

Check your exaust pipes, muffler, manifolds, cadalitic converter.
Something is probably stuck to the outside or is touching, and burns when it gets hot. Drive your car a while, then turn it off and follow your nose. Start with the engine compartment. Stank to high heaven until I scraped it off, then it stank a little until all the residue burned off. The thicker plastic bags seem particularly bad as they have more material to burn off. My 03 Accord has never made any odd smells, except for sulphor from the tailpipe with one tankful of gas. Mine's a 4 cylinder EX-L Started right up this morning at -4 F. Started faster than me this morning. Dave Remove "WOW" from email address to reply |
