Does anyone have experience/recommendations for tire brands (and
models) as replacement for the OEM Michelin Energy MXV4-S8 on the 04
accord sedan? Quiet ride is the most important factor. The size is
205/60-16 with V-speed rating. Many thanks in advance for your
comments.

Sorry I don't have specific rec's but you might want to check out
tirerack.com. They usually have lots of user opinions on all the different
tires.

I would look for a touring or luxury touring type of tire. They usually
offer the lengthiest tread mileage and quietest highway type of tire at the
sacrificing of performance a bit.

I recommend 215/55-16 or 225/55-16 for this car.

I picked Yokohama Avid Touring for my Accord. However, bang for the $
was decision driver for me. www.tirerack.com is a good place to do
research and a good place to buy. Local shops could not match their
prices for me.

I find my Toyo Proxes TPT much quieter than my Michelin.

So you don't care about wet traction and the like?

I've found that Goodyear Eagle, Goodrich Comp T/A, and Michelin Energy
MXV all lost much of their wet traction after 2-3 years, despite
having much tread left. All of these are H.

On the other hand, Michelin X-One, X-Plus were just fine.

LRM,

Wet traction or thread longevity are not as important to me as the
highway noise. It is annoying to hear the relatively loud tire drone
at 55-65 mph while the engine (and other noises) are practially
nonexistent.
