Hi folks,
This morning I was not able to shift gears (P to R) on my CRV (1997, 64k miles). I was stepping on the brake, the car was parked on horizontal surface - as usual. It did work only with the engine off and the ignition key in the shift lock release slot. I did some searching on this group, ant this seems to be a common problem with Accords from early-mid 90's. Does the same reasoning (faulty shift cable, brake switch, etc.) apply for CRV as well? Thanks in advance, Eugene |

Don't know about the CRV specifically, but normally there is a solenoid
at the base of the shift lever operated by a switch at the brake pedal. If you remove the trim around the shift lever you should be able to find the solenoid. See if it gets power when you step on the brake with the ignition on. Eugene wrote: > > Hi folks, > > This morning I was not able to shift gears (P to R) on my CRV (1997, > 64k miles). Thanks, Randolph. I believe it's a break switch - I noticed yesterday
that my brake lights do not work also. Nope, it's not a fuse - checked those already. So, my CR-V is at mechanic's right now, as it's too cold where I live (-5 F) to fix it myself.
