My '92 Accord will overheat if not moving for a couple minutes. The
thermostat and water pump have been replaced. The car is new to me. Is it possible that the fan (or fans) are not running? Thanks. Ted -- If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger. - Frank Lloyd Wright |

Sounds likely. Do you hear the fans running when it overheats?

Nope. It is stupid, but before this, i never realized that I had never
heard the fans run. Now I just have to figure out why they aren't. -- If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger. - Frank Lloyd Wright "Randolph" <trash@junkmail.com> wrote in message news:3FF3A2E5.76FD16AA@junkmail.com... > Sounds likely. Check out the "93 Accord overheating" thread in the alt.autos.honda
newsgroup. You might find some relevant troubleshooting tips there. Ted Bealmear wrote: > > Nope. It is stupid, but before this, i never realized that I had never > heard the fans run. Generally one can easily check the cooling fan(s) status by
operating the HVAC system in AC or defrost mode. However simply knowing that the fan(s) operate does not mean they are coming on at the proper temperature. The thermal switch should be checked for proper function, as well. If everything is operating as designed, then I would determine the condition of the radiator. mike hunt Ted Balmier wrote: > > My '92 Accord will overheat if not moving for a couple minutes. The gen 5 Accords have separate fans...one for a/c, another for cooling. -- '03 S2000 '94 Accord It's just about going fast...that's all... http://home.insight.rr.com/cgreen/ |

You should stop guessing, "Mike". -- TeGGeR® |
