How do you change the passenger side headlamp on a 1999 Accord (4 cyl)? There is a plastic air intake pipe right in the way. Is the air intake easily removed? I don't see how to replace the lamp without removing the pipe I don't see how the pipe is removed. How do I get the air intake out of the way?

Here is what the service manual says.
1. Remove the front bumper. (Not an easy task.) 2. Disconnect the connectors. 3. Remove the five mounting bolts, then remove the headlight assembly. The manual also states that, after you remove and replace the front bumper, you have to re-align the headlamps. Hello; are you serious about the procedure for changing a headlight in the
99 Accord? Wow, what a hassle! This may be something for me to consider, as I have a 99 and have contemplated getting a new one before it develops any problems. |

Is that the instructions for replacing the headlight assembly or just
the bulb? On my '94 Civic there is also a air intake pipe in the way when replacing the passenger's side bulb, but this plastic piece can be removed simply by pulling it up. Those instructions[removing bumper etc.] are for removing the headlight
assembly...not the light bulb. Changing the bulb is a very easy procedure, if that is what you are referring to. I believe that procedure is for the "head lamp (assembly)", which is the
entire lens/reflector/housing unit. To replace the "bulb", you merely have to disconnect the plastic air intake tube, and then do it by hand. -- '03 S2000 '94 Accord It's just about going fast...that's all... http://home.insight.rr.com/cgreen/ "Ed and Linda Brown" <brownle@olypen.com> wrote in message news:vv3l2qqj4cut62@corp.supernews.com... > Hello; are you serious about the procedure for changing a headlight in the > 99 Accord? I bought a bulb at Oreilly auto supply and the salesman came out and
changed the bulb in about 5 minutes. The plastic air intake just snaps out, and since it was dark I didn't see him remove and replace bulb, but I'm pretty sure it just twisted out, then new one twisted in. The salesman said DO NOT touch the glass part of the (new) bulb; apparently skin oil will cause halogen bulbs to fail quickly. 99 Accord 4 cyl "Ender" <anonymous@anonymous.com> wrote in message news:1db6e9c309c56f8aac8debe5d1036fac@localhost.ta lkaboutautos.com... The intake pipe just pulls straight up - if it's never been out before you may have to heave pretty hard. Note: to change the bulb you do not have to, and should not, loosen the screws which hold the bulb in. If there's even a slight amount of corrosion on them you'll find the bulb very hard to turn - a spritz of silicone will allow the bulb to turn easily. Absolutely, *never* touch a halogen bulb with bare skin. |
