Thanks in advance for your support
My 2000 v6 accord does not start. The motor cranks until I release the key but does not start. I had this problem once during the summer and after the car sat for 4-5 hours it worked fine and has continued till today. It is a bit colder out now and the car is parked outside. I installed a new battery not for this problem but strictly because of the age of the previous one and winter temps. Almost seems as though the motor is not getting fuel. Oh BTW I did not step on the gas prior to starting and the car is in park. Any suggestions: |

Is the green imobilizer light flashing while the car is not starting. The
imobilizer units in these sometimes fail in this fashion. gump,
Read the part in the manual about 'lamp check' for the dash lights. Then, while you're doing the lamp check, listen to the fuel pump run for two or three seconds. If you don't hear something running, you may need a new MAIN RELAY. This link will give you the symptoms (which are temperature related) and the fix: http://members.rogers.com/john-ings/MainRelay.HTM You can do a Google search for the term MAIN RELAY HONDA and you'll find MUCH discussion about the problem.... Works for me. =============== If it really is the MAIN RELAY, just smack the dash with the key in the II position. You'll hear the relay run and car will start when you try it (until next time it acts up). 'Curly' ================= -- |

Last spring, our Ody had a leaky injector and the symptom is the same as bad relay: Overnight the injector leaks until pressure drops off. Engine is FLOODED. It was so bad I thought the timing belt was broken because it wouldn't fire or start. I read the manual and found the part about high altitude / cold starting / flooded engine. Held the pedal to the floor and cranked it for five or so seconds and it started to fire... took several more seconds to stop sputtering. We cured it by running some ethanol enhanced gas thru it to clean the injectors. Injector cleaner would have done it too. Let the group know if this helps. 'Curly' |
