I picked up the LX V6 a month or two ago, and since then it's gotten pretty
cold (20-30 degrees F). My question is, how hot should the heater fan blow? In my previous car (2001 Camry), it was hot enough to start hurting your hand if you left it there long enough. In this car, I can leave the heat on full blast and it doesn't really get that hot in the cabin. Another way to describe the situation is that the heater fan temperature is hardly warmer at the "warmed-up" position on the coolant temperature gauge (just short of halfway) than when it's just past the "C" mark. Any ideas? |

Without checking it per the service manual using a thermometer and assuming
something is wrong you could have a misadjusted heater door that isn't allowing the full amount of heat into the car. I assume since your gauge is reading up and down that the antifreeze level is good CaptainKrunch "Chris Aseltine" <ophidian@newsnation.com> wrote in message news:VTaEb.140066$_M.708288@attbi_s54... > I picked up the LX V6 a month or two ago, and since then it's gotten pretty > cold (20-30 degrees F). > > My question is, how hot should the heater fan blow? My 1999 4 cyl. Accord Sedan warms up the car on a cold day in about 20 minutes. You are lucky--your Honda is still under warranty--take it back to the dealer and have the service department supervisor check your heater and fix the problem. They should have a special device to clip on the duct and measure the temp. and compare it to the temp. on other identical cars. |

Most cars, changing to a hotter thermostat can increase cabin temp. First, look around for simpler problems. Bleeding coolant air, coolant level, valve cables, door cables, etc. |

First of all, Honda's warm really quick. Then also dissipated heat too. They
have a great coolant system. Things are normal. The same would be in the summer. You could let that thing in 120 deg weather and it wouldn't overheat. The efficiency of the cooling system is not related to whether Chris
is getting good heat in the cabin. Assuming the car is reaching the proper operating temperature (which is sounds like it is), then there should be good heat inside. I have an 03 EX-L and I get hot air out of my heater. (I understand mine's the 4 cyl and this one is a V6) The heater works very well here in Minnesota where it's been colder than the 20-30 degrees cited in the original post. There is indeed something wrong if the heater is only lukewarm. Get it to the dealer and get it fixed. In my previous car >(2001 Camry), it was hot enough to start hurting your hand if you left it the heater core is heated by engine coolant. With the the thermostat open, the top temperature of the heater outlet is the temperature of the engine. >there long enough. It's designed to keep the heater core shut off completely when heat isn't desired. |
