G'day fellers (and women too, sorry),
I've got an 86 Honda Prelude with an 88 engine and I keep getting the brake lamp warning indicator on (no, the handbrake isn't on). Dad reckons it might be a lack of brake fluid that's causing it, although some trips the light doesn't come on. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to cars, so please don't assume any knowledge on my part. Anyideas as to what the prob may be would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Cheers all! |

Yes, do check the fluid level as the first action. Takes 1 second.
Second cause could be the switch contact at the ebrake lever came out of adjustment . You have a tail light out.
Brake light = problem with brake system or parking brake on. Brake Lamp light = tail light out (or some problem with that system). Hold the bulb to a light, if the filaments looks kind of worn, try replacing
the bulb. The bulb must be able to transfer a correct amount of current to deactivate the brank lamp indicator. Assuming an 86 Honda with an 88 motor, I guess you might have a Geo Metro bulbs cross mixed with Suburus on your tail light. ...no pun intended. :- ) "John Knight" <anarchist_tomato@herzeleid.net> wrote in message news:1d1f09e5.0312130458.3c01401d@posting.google.c om... > G'day fellers (and women too, sorry), > I've got an 86 Honda Prelude with an 88 engine and I keep getting the > brake lamp warning indicator on (no, the handbrake isn't on).
