I'm looking for a rear vision mirror for a first-generation
(1997-2001) Honda CR-V. I would buy it, new or used, from anywhere in the world. Any suggestions about where this rear vision mirror can be purchased will be greatly appreciated. This rear vision mirror is an external accessory, a convex mirror that is attached to the top rear lip of the vehicle. The face of the mirror faces down at about 45 degree angle and offers the driver a view of the ground when looking at this external rear vision mirror through the internal rear view mirror. The back side of the mirror faces up and the casing is made of black plastic. This rear vision mirror really helps to see what's behind the vehicle, especially in tight parking situations. http://www.autobodypartx.com/honda-c...car-parts.html lists in the right
column under "2000 Honda Crv Exterior Body Parts," "rear view mirror." The page shows an 800 number at its top. A number of other possibilities come up when searching at www.google.com using the words: honda Cr-v rear mirror 2000 . Typically those selling car mirrors have 800 numbers. You have called a dealer to see if they have this, right? "Natasha Zagsky" <zagsky@hotmail.com> wrote > I'm looking for a rear vision mirror for a first-generation > (1997-2001) Honda CR-V. A-1 Honda Parts in Calgary, Alberta has a 'yard' of dead Hondas.
1-800-958-3339 The part you describe sounds like it was added by a previous owner. Anybody else ever seen a mirror like Natasha is describing ???? Actually, yes. I have. It was on a silver CR-V on Highway 401 one day. It looked _exactly_ like the mirror she describes. It appears to be called a "rear cross-view mirror", and is commonly used on delivery vans and school buses. Two links I found which may be helpful. http://www.sureplus.com/products/school.htm http://www.velvac.com/products/mirrorsBODY.html Click on "Blind Spot Mirror Systems" -- TeGGeR® |

Another name for it that I have encountered is "rear under mirror". So now we have three potentially correct names for it: * rear vision mirror * rear cross-view mirror * rear under mirror I am the original owner of my 1998 Honda CR-V EX, and I had this mirror installed by the dealer before the vehicle was delivered to me. The mirror was offered in the dealer's parts catalog and the price in 1998 was $100 CAD. Unfortunately, the mirror got damaged recently, so I'm looking to replace it. The dealer's Parts Department has been able to find the Honda part number for this accessory: 08V04-S10-300 they just cannot find the part itself anywhere. Over the years I have only seen this mirror once or twice on other Honda CR-Vs. My CR-V is silver and I often drive on Highway 401 in the Toronto area, so it may have been my vehicle that Tegger had noticed. Natasha Zagsky zagsky@hotmail.com |

If it has a part number, then there is a recorded vendor somewhere that has this. Give me a day or so. I'm sure I can locate this part for you. I'll report back on Monday. > > Over the years I have only seen this mirror once or twice on other > Honda CR-Vs. That is exactly what I thought; it might have been your very vehicle (the one I saw was driven by a lady). I am on the 400-series highways regularly. And when I saw it, I thought that that mirror was a great idea. -- TeGGeR® |

I have talked to my Canadian Honda dealer's parts department and they
have enlightened me on four things about the external mirror I'm looking for: 1) Part Number 08V04-S10-300 is officially described as "rear under mirror". 2) This part was made by Honda and offered as an original Honda accessory for first generation CR-Vs (1997 to 2001). 3) There is no stock available in Honda Canada's inventory system. 4) This part has been flagged as "discontinued". If anyone in the USA has the ability to check the Honda USA's inventory system for part number 08V04-S10-300 "rear under mirror", please let me know! I just checked http://www.hparts.com and http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com Both come up blank. My advice would be to find out from Honda Canada Inc. who the vendor was. 1-888-946-6329. You might have to be persistent here. -- TeGGeR® |
