Hi
I own a 1996 Honda Accord. Because Honda violated some EPA regulations, Honda had to offer each owner an oil change, tune up, and extension of emmissions warranty to 150,000 miles. I received the free oil change and tune up. My Honda now has 105,000 miles. It is burning oil at the rate of one quart every 800 miles. I expect in about two years my car will fail the state emissions tests because of this oil burning. Is Honda required to perform repairs on the engine so the car will comply with state emission regulations? What does the 150,000 mile emission warranty cover? Thank you. Leon Lazarus |

Generally emission warranty applies to emission components i.e. catalytic
converter, which comes with higher warranty than the standard warranty at the first place. If you have 105,000 miles and your car is burning oil... Burning oil is not part of the emission warranty BUT part of your standard warranty. Since standard warranty is usually 3 years and 36,000 miles you most likely will not be covered under the emission warranty.
