I have a 92 2 door Honda Accord LX WITHOUT A/C. Recently the radiator
fan stopped working. I hot wired the fan and it worked. I also replaced the radiator fan relay with relays from cars in a parts dealership. (The numbers were not exactly the same but the guy said it should work)This didn't help. If I take the fan relay out and jumper across, the fan comes on but is no good to me because it causes it to run while the car is stopped.I also disconnected the temerature sensor plug on the radiator and shorted the two pins and the fan would not work. As everyone I talked to said it should. I measured the continuity between the pins and there is about 5k ohms, the manual said there should be none. disconnecting the fuse and the relay does'nt make a difference in the contnuity.I traced the wire to a connector and when I disconnect that, the continuity goes away and then comes back after I re-connect. If it sounds like a short, I wouldn't know where to run a wire to replace it as the manual is vague on details. Any suggestions? |

On the manual you see that the the fan timer has something to do with the
cooling fan. Go to the fan timer and see if you have battery voltage on the yellow wire. If you don't then the timer is dead. If you look at the manual again (p22-4) just yank out the yellow wire and attach it to blk/yel assuming you have battery voltage and fuse #2 isn't zapped. This is only remotely related, but I would like to advise everyone of my
mistake. Last summer, I learned the hard way that the two fans on my 1992 Accord EX are on two seperate circuits. I pulled the fuse for the main fan and gave it to my father thinking that it was a spare fuse because of where it sat in the underhood fusebox. The A/C fan continued to come on with the A/C and up to about 90 degrees F it was strong enough to cool the engine, while the main fan sat idle.Right at the end of July the original radiator's top tank cracked and the entire radiator had to be replaced. BTW, I got the new unit for US$95 at Advanced Auto Parts. I printed out the online special, brought to my local store and they matched their online price. JIMBO |

One other thing. The part you measured for continuity, at least one should
have ground. > On the manual you see that the the fan timer has something to do with the > cooling fan.
