I took my 1995 Honda Civic LX into the dealer to repair an oil leak (found
oil in the distributor cap and on engine block). Dealer replaced distributor housing sub-assy, head cover gasket, cylinder head gasket and cleaned the engine. After driving back home I am now hearing a "cricket chirping" sound coming from the engine. It appears to be engine-related and not transmission since the noise still is still audible when driving in neutral. This sound only appeared after the dealer repairs. Any ideas? |

You had the head gasket replaced? So many things could be squeaking. I
would start with the distributor housing subassembly, the common place for cricket chirps related to the bearing. Find it fast even if it`s new. Use a large tube, place one end to an ear. > I took my 1995 Honda Civic LX into the dealer to repair an oil leak (found > oil in the distributor cap and on engine block). Oddly enough, the noise has now disappeared. Barring its re-appearance I'll attribute it to degreaser getting in the belts or something, since the engine was cleaned as part of the service. |
