Default 04 Pilot XM radio

Hello,
I just purchased a Honda Pilot 2004 W/dvd system .
I'd like to add an XM radio has anyone done this on 04 ?
The 04's now have heated seats I don't know if you can possibly add an XM .
Honda Xm modulator cost around $600 plus installation I can get it at my audio
store for around $249 .
The only probelm I don't know if I can trust Circuit city kids working on my
car .
Any recommendations ?
Thank you in advance
Bruno

I saw a system available at Best Buy for $99.00 that is all-inclusive and
designed to work with existing car stereos that have casettes. When I asked
if they had something similar for a CD player stereo, he said sure, but it
will cost about $275.00 plus installation. I told him if I was going to be
that stupid, I'd rather go to a local Goodwill, buy a casette stereo for
$5.00 and buy the $99.00 unit.

Anyone heard of something about $100.00 for a CD stereo setup?

XM receivers were conceived to be added easily. If you buy one form
Circus City, it will retransmit to a channel on your FM receiver. So it
does not need to be intrusively hooked into your stereo. The only
challenge they have is running the power and antenna.

The excerpt below is from Honda parts info bulletin for the '04 Pilot.

The Honda XM radio unit for '04 does NOT use an FM modulator. There is a buss
cable directly to the factory audio unit, therefore the sound quality should be
nearly equal to CD sound.

Hope this helps. Cheers, Tp
Enjoy your Pilot!

first off, go back to best buy and appologize to the guy for
you being so ignorant.

second, what are you talkin about? do you want a CD adapter
like one comparable to the tape adapter? (not likely)
or do you want a stand alone unit with FM transmission to your
stereo? or do you want a stand alone which can be adapted to
your existing audio wiring? (most likely)

pick any of those and you still need the antenna installed($50)
so $275 for a good unit, antenna, and adapter(s) is about right.

You obviously know nothing about electronics. Do you think the wizards
at BestBuy can disect your car stereo and wire in an XM auxillary shunt
for every make of car stereo out there? Not likely! Do you think every
audio system is going to have ready made hookups for XM? Not likely!
They will hook up an FM retransmit setup. Its easy, and works with every
car stereo out there that picks up FM, its easy, and theres no risk for
them.
