Default Smoking from Honda. Why??

My car smokes a lot especially after I stop and start again. Like a lot,
then it doesn't smoke any more after I drive it a while again. I'm just
wondering what's going on with my car. Does it just need regular
maintenance?

When it first happened I thought it was a gas problem (the tank actually was
completely on empty). Possibly an oil proble too, though the change wasn't
due until the end of december and/or 2 K more miles.

My car is Accord LX 1993.

Some additional info would help.

What color is the smoke?

Is it losing oil or coolant?

The smoke is white. I think there is some sort of leak with the radiator or
one of the hoses though.

AFAIK, it shouldn't be the oil. It isn't due for a change for several more
miles. I did add some oil though as a temporary fix just in case that was
the problem.

Is the smoke coming from the exhaust or from the engine compartment?
If it is coming from the engine compartment then is may be a leaky
radiator or hose.

Being due for an oil change would have nothing to do with smoke. You
shouldn't add oil unless it is low on the dipstick.

Take note of the oil level (on the dip stick) and the coolant level
(in the reservoir bottle.) Loss of either fluid could point to your
problem.

You didn't mention... Would the mileage be about 400,000 miles?

Might be your answer...
