I just changed the front brakes on my 98 Honda Accord. Now whenever I
am backing the car out of my drive way in the morning the brakes make a squealing sound. This sound goes away in a few minutes once I have driven for a few miles. Any idea what could be causing this? Also, how do you reset the maint. required light on the 98 Honda? I remeber the 96 had a little button on the dash that you had to press. I think my mechanic forgot to reset it this time. |

Any idea what could be causing this? Most likely the pads. Many aftermarket brake pads are noisy. |

I always buy Honda pads, just bought new pads for my 98 Accord, smooth and quiet. Stops in straight line, with no pulling. What is the average life of the oem brake pads?

That question is impossible to answer because it depends almost totally on
how you use the brakes. On my '96 Odyssey, the fronts lasted 70k miles and the rears went at 117k miles.
