hi.
might be a silly question.. how do u lower the antenna for car wash?
it doesnt seem to allow me to manually lower (or close it) ...

any thoughts?

Maybe HONDA forgot to mention this in the newer versions of the OWNER'S
MANUAL, but the manual for our Odyssey says it's safe to go thru a
carwash with the (non-retracting) antenna in place.

What does your manual say??

heh, if i had a fixed antenna (unscrewable) i wouldn't care WHAT any manual
said.. i'd take it off before going through a carwash.

It doesn't lower on mt 2002 EX. It is a flexible antenna.
I only go to no contact water jet car washes. No problem there.

We take our '03 CRV thru the local car wash (with the spinning brushes) on a
fairly regular basis. I noticed that the antenna is fairly flexible and
seems to come thru the car wash completely unscathed.

I don't like the ones with brushes because ther crap that can get stuck on
the brushes might scratch the car.
Here in Montreal, there is not many of those left, They're all water jets.

I've tried those and they never seem to take the dirt off.. Maybe I should
go more often.. Or would waxing more often allow dirt to come off more
willingly?

Think of waxing your car like 'Spraying it with PAM', The eggs don't
stick!, the cake won't stick!, the bird poop won't stick!!!!

I get a really good feeling when I'm getting close to finishing a hand
wax job, and find there's no place on the car where I can set the bottle
of carwax where it won't _____slide off >>>>>>> .

I just use basic combination polish / wax, like Turtle wax or Blue Poly.
The polishing compound in those products will help you remove a lot of
stuff, from small splatters of road tar to other peoples paint samples.
I also find it to be a great time to keep current on the overall state
of the car's outer 'condition'.

I've heard good stuff about Zaino.. I've used Meguiar's in the past, and
recently heard.. not as good.. stuff about it .. I may try out the Zaino
stuff next time..

clay bars are nice too...
