Default 1994 accord EX heater won't work

I've got my 1994 honda accord ex last january and drove it alittle and
the heater worked fine. Now the heater does not seem to work at all
for some reason. I basically never touched the hot cold control knob.
What could it be? Could someone give me a list of possible things to
check?

Thanks

chris

First check the control knob - they're notorious for breaking so pull the
knob off and try turning the shaft with a needle nose pliers or the like.
I not that, either the air-mix door is stuck in the cold air position or
the water valve is not being turned "on". AFAICT for your car, from the
control head there's a cable which goes to the heater box to control the
air-mix door and a lever there which controls another cable which goes into
the engine compartment to control the water valve.

The cable sheaths are clamped at each end by spring clips and it's likely
that one of them has come off. Have someone turn the knob while you look
under the hood at the water valve to see what's happening there - in one of
the two hoses going through the firewall you'll see the valve with lever
with the cable attached. If the cable has come off there make sure the
lever is not too stiff to turn and reattach the cable - set the heater
control knob to cold and set the lever to the cold position of course.

If that's not the problem you're going to have to check for a detached
cable clamp clip on the cables at the heater box - dunno where on your car
but on other models, usually in the passenger side under the center dash.
If still nothing then the cable could be detached behind the dash at the
control head - a PITA to take apart.

If you want to see what things look like, check out the parts diagrams at
www.hondaautomotiveparts.com.
