I am looking at first generation Odysseys and I see some listed as EX
Sports Vans. What is the difference from regular EX, if any? Also,
what features does the EX get over the LX? Any weak spots I should
pay attention to? I would be looking at '97 or '98.

Don't bother, they suck. Pay a little more and get the 2nd gen.

I don't think I've ever seen a "Sports Van", so I can't comment on that.

I had a '96 EX. It is still in the family hauling kids for one of my
daughters.

From the showroom, it has an electric sunroof, alloy wheels and the body
side molding is painted the same color as the car. It also has captain's
chairs in the middle row and there is an electric up-down control on the
driver's seat. I'm not sure if those are options on the LX or not.

That later models have ten more horsepower than the earlier ones.

Why do you day that? It is smaller and more maneuverable than the 2nd gen
and some people (myself included) actually prefer four doors.

Not an issue of money. G2 won't fit in my garage and it is generally
bigger than I need. What I really want is the Honda sport version of
my Volvo 240 Wagon. Hoping an old Ody will hold me over until they
start making something like that.

Get the '98, for the V-Tec. More power and better gas mileage. Let me
