Folks,
I have a 1991 Honda Accord Wagon. The BRAKE LAMP light keeps coming on
and I don't know what it means. It comes on intermittently. At first I
thought it was the acutal brake light but the brake light is fine.

Any thoughts?

point or return spring for wear, or look for a wire problem.
The brake switch usually fails 'off' when defective.

Low fluid. Pads are worn. Go get it checked out before they start grinding.

Replace the bulb.

I think the OP is referring to the "BRAKE LAMP" light which is under the
little diagram of the car that shows what doors are open.. It's supposed
to tell you when a brake lamp is out.. I had this "feature" in my '90
Prelude, it never seemed to work right, sometimes it'd just turn on when
i hit the brakes, and not shut off unless i turned the car on/off..

tells you why it's not there anymore...

I *did* like the car diagram thingie that told you WHICH door was open..
Unlike the newer models which just have a "DOOR" and "TRUNK" light.

That's how it is supposed to work. Comes on when you hit the brake pedal
that first time, and won't go off until you turn the car off. When you turn
it back on and press the brake pedal, it checks the system again. Now if it
was coming on without good reason, you may have had a bad failure sensor.
They are two little boxes that the brake lights plug into that turn on the
light on the dash.

yeah.. i meant when the brake lights are functioning .. you're right it
was probably a bad sensor..

Yea...that's it...the "Petal Pivot Point". Don't forget to check the "Break
Balance Boom" either.

I your brakes work ok, first thing to check is the fluid level. If you're at
the limit, the light would come on and off.

The ONLY reason this light comes on is when the bulb is malfunctioning. Why is
everyone so damn confused? It's simple, just replace the damn bulb.
