Hi - I own a 2001 Honda Accord EX V6. Recently I have noticed that it
makes smal clicking noises when I take sharp right turns. The noise seems to come from the rear right side wheel/wheel-assembly. Any suggestions on what I should check/try to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance, Musafir |

Probably need a new drive shaft. I'd check the right boot (which houses
the grease for your wheel bearing) to make sure it hasn't been damaged. If so, the grease is probably dried-out; no protecton for the wheel bearing. The entire assemble is part of the drive shaft. Honda sb #99-093 describes a click noise that may be similar to what you
describe. It involves (slight) rust build up between the wheel hub face and wheel were it contacts the hub. The face of the hub and backside of wheel are cleaned/sanded and lubricated to stop the noise. I have seen this fix quite a few earlier accords and the bulletin actualy covers only 98-00 accords of Japan production, However the actual source of the noise may be the same. A good place to start is to demo the noise for a technician at your local Honda dealer and have them trace the noise down. Good luck! There was a small stick caught under the car. Have you done a physical inspection of the wheels? Dave |

Hi All -
Thanks for all the advice. I did manually inspect the tires and cannot see anything out of the order on the outside. I hope I don't need a new drive shaft - the car has 37000 miles and has been driven gently !! I have setup an appointment with a technician at the local dealership. Will definitely update you guys on what was wrong. To correct something I said earlier - the noise comes from the rear right when I take sharp lefts... Thanks again, Musafir |

Guys - update and question.
I took a test drive with a technician at the local Honda dealership. He examined the right, front tire. Initially he thought it might be the heat shield and he tried to bend it away. The noise did not go away. According to him the brakes look good from the outside but the inner lining may have wore faster and it might be the break wear indicator. Does that make sense? The car had its 30,000 mile service done at the same dealership and they noted that the breaks are 40-50% worn. Could I have worn the brakes so much in 6,300 miles (I am a very careful driver - I do not use hard breaking)? They have set up an appointment when they will take the tire out and examine the break wear; but I am beginning to think that the problem is something else altogether. Thanks in advance, Musafir |

Psychic - I think you are the winner!! I looked at the rear wheel in
question more carefully and there is indeed some rust build between the wheel hub face and wheel. Is this something that can be cleaned/etc and lubricated at home or is it best to let tke dealership do the job? Not so much the money, I want to have the pleasure of fixing something on my car (I can't say on my own - you guys solved it for me)?
