Default window trim on 2003 accord. DX has black, EX has chrome.

MY wife and I own a 2003 accord EX and we love it, best car we have
ever owned (almost as good as the 88 accord lxi I used to have)
I also have a 97 accord lx... i "mod" it out just a bit and HATED the
chrome trim around my window. So I bought some black out tape and took
care of it. I wanted to do it to my wifes 2003 and she said she likes
the look, but doesnt want black tape all over her new car LOL.
HOWEVER we saw a 2003 accord DX and its window trim was BLACK! Also
the accord coupe has black trim...

Is there a way I can get that black trim for my EX? What would I ask
for? woudl the dealer parts shop give it to me? anyone know the part
number and how easy is it to remove this trim?

thanks in advance all!

I'd go talk with the Honda body shop. They know all about such things
are trim, which fits what and so forth. I'm sure they can give you
good guidance. The parts department won't necessarily know which parts
are interchangeable between the DX and EX (though i can't believe they
are different!).

Yeah, honda dealer has the trim, all 8 peices will cost $533... I love
those guys, but I hate when they preface their answer with "We have
it, but I dont think you wanna pay this price"... anyway,
www.hparts.com has the peices for about $360... no way Honda made two
different bodies for the DX and EX, guess ill be saving up some money,
that chrome has always looked so dumb to me, and black will look so
cool since ours is black and has tinted windows

There was a guy in this forum recently who was making an LX into a EX
(didn't want a sunroof). Does the LX have the chrome? If not, maybe
he'll swap you.

Also, if you're patient, you might be able to get this trim from a
salvage yard in the not too distant future for a lot less.

I guess that I am that guy (didn't care for the sunroof), but I have
already installed most of the EX pieces on my 2003 Accord LX sedan.

I am confirming that the LX has the chrome trim around the windows,
at least the sedan -- do not know about the coupe. I also wish that
the trim was blacked out too, since it's difficult to remove the
water spots after the car is washed.

Yet another area to wax and wipe down, I guess. The trend seems to be
in the direction of bright trim. My 2000 Passat is nearly all body
color and I think it looks quite good. The new ones have the same kind
of chrome trim we're talking about here around the doors and
elsewhere. Personally I think it detracts from the look.

On my 1997 accord I looked and looked and looked for a solution to
turn my chrome to black... People kept telling me to get "BlackOut
Tape"... I couldnt find it anywhere until I found it hidden in an
autozone.
It is basically wide pin stripe, but it is SPECIFICALLY marketed to
changing your chrome window trim to black window trim... My wife says
my car looks good now, but she doesnt want me to put it on her 2003
accord... she said if she gets it black she wants the official peice
(from the DX).
If you wanna try it I will tell you it works great and 2 rolls is all
you need and they run about 3 bucks a roll. Just get some STRONG
cleaner (like finger nail polish) to make sure the trim is VERY clean,
get a razor blade and a long afternoon in your garage... it works!

But if anyone wants to trade theri 2003 accord DX trim for me EX trim,
email me or tlel me in this thread.
