Default GAS MILAGE ON 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY EX

I am getting 15 to 16 miles in the city. Normally I get right around
the suggested gas milage. The posted milage is 18 city 24 hwy.

Any one else getting bad mileage?

Hey, that's about what I manage in my F-150 SuperCrew with a 5.4L V8.
Thanks for making my evening.

How old is the van? How are you measuring your fuel economy?

The van is new. Only 1300 miles. I saw another post about a civic
and it stated that the honda takes a couple thousand miles on it?

I use the trip odometer which I clear at each fill up after writing
the mileage down on the receipt.

I'm glad I made your day.

That's key. You can't get a reliable fuel economy measurement with such
low mileage. Generally fuel economy will improve gradually in the early
going, maybe up to 10K miles. I suggest not checking it again until 5K
or so.

It's extremely likely that nothing's wrong with your new van, so enjoy
it! We're talking about selling our CR-V and getting an Odyssey.

Thanks Bo. We relly like the van. I didn't check out the Toyta van
van but it looks pretty cool. Adds a power rear gate, slide down
middle windows and a spilt rear disapperaing rear seat.

You will like the Odyssey. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, Toyota finally built a minivan I can stand to look at. Only took
15 years. <g> Very sharp, for a van. Excellent face and butt, which
is where I had the most style problems with the previous model. Seemed
like it should have said "Rubbermaid," it was so boring and utilitarian.

We may be able to look at a 2005 (supposed to be the first
third-generation model) Odyssey before we actually do this, and I'll bet
Honda comes back with some tricks of their own. It's very telling that
the current Odyssey remains as competitive as it is--says quite a bit
about its inherent goodness, methinks.

I'm sure we will, and glad to help!
