I've replaced the front struts on a 2002 Civic EX at 12,000
miles; the dealer told me at that time that I shouldn't have these problems in the future with the replacement struts that they've put in. He said Honda came up with a permanent fix for this problem. Now at 17k I can hear thumping noise coming from the wheels, and the car feels unstable when making turns or hitting bumps on the road. Is my guess correct that the old problem with the struts is back? The car still has warranty, but I don't think I'll be happy with replacing struts every 7000 miles once the warranty runs out. I had heard somewhere else that all they could do was replace them but that the new ones weren't much better than the old ones. A.J |

Comments? No sign of leaks from the struts? I'm sure I recall reading - dunno where - that as well as the strut/damping problem there was also a problem with the springs. My memory of it is kinda vague but as I recall it, the end coils are too close together and they bang against each other... making the thumping noise. I'd have thought they'd have taken care of that with the struts though... while everything was apart. Hello!
As I heard, many people replaced struts several times. I don't know whether the problem was permanently resolved by Honda or not, but why not to replace them for free 'till your warranty is valid? I'd recomment to test struts by pushing front right and left corners down - if the car wobbles few times then it's time to visit the dealership. ![]() /Alex PS: Удачи! ----== Posted via Newsfeed.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! >100,000 Newsgroups ---= 19 East/West-Coast Specialized Servers - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |

Used to have a 2001 Civic LX Coupe Canadian. Bought in 2001 and sold 18
months later with 32000 km. Changed the struts twice.
