After a heavy rain, the carpet in the trunk of our '93 Accord is
always soaking wet. The trunk gasket appears to be in good condition, although last winter I did accidentally break off part of the plastic moulding along the bottom of the back window, and the moulding is now loose in that area. Could that be where the water's getting through? Any other ideas? Thanks. Ben |

It looks like water is suppossed to drain off the back window to a channel around the edge of the trunk and then spill over the top of the tail light assembly. I noticed a gap between the tail light assembly and the body where the water entered and went through the light on its way to the trunk. As a temporary repair, I used some black electrical tape to cover the gap. I had planned to replace that with caulk at a later time, but the tape seems to be working quite well. Andrew |

While looking at Accords recently ( we have a '92 and wanted another
4th Gen Accord to replace my VW), I looked at a 91 that had the same problem. The guy explained to me that a couple of clips that hold on the window molding had broken and water was leaking in there. He replaced them and the leak was fixed. Look under the front of the trunk lip, under the window molding, and you will see them. I didn't buy the car, but I did find a super clean '91 with 100K for less than 3K. Could that be where the water's getting through? Any other ideas? Thanks. Ben Greetings Ben, I had a similar problem with my 90 accord. The rear floorboard would get wet when I drove on wet roads. It was determined that a weld joing was not made when the car was built. I don't know if this could be your problem. My car was new at the time. Regards, John |
