I have noticed a slight knocking when I start my car in cold weather.
It goes away after 5 minutes or so while driving. Is this a valve thing or is it just that my car (1998 Civic) has 150,000 miles on it and is just showing its age? Thanks in advance Mike |

Most Hondas require periodic valve adjustment since they are
not hydraulic. In article <3f4cca66.1551137@news.erols.com>, Mike wrote: > I have noticed a slight knocking when I start my car in cold weather. > It goes away after 5 minutes or so while driving. Yes, I did get the valves adjusted when this started to happen (last
winter. Also got a new valve gasket while I was at it. Still pings a bit, like I said, just for a few minutes while its warming up...then for the rest of the day, its fine. Thanks for the reply however. Piston slap. Common complaint in this NG. As the season begins to change,
there will be lots more threads on this topic.
