What kind of seat are you using? The carseat compatability database at
http://www.carseatdata.org/database.html doesn't list any models known
to work in the '97 V, but assuming the interior was the same in other
Gen 1 models, it looks like you should be able to get a Graco
Snugride, Britax Roundabout, or Cosco Alpha Omega to fit. Check your
carseat manual as well as the Honda manual to make sure you aren't
missing anything, and get a certified tech to help with your
