I really like the way my '89 Honda Civic 1.6L hatchback drives.
Sweet free revving engine, smooth changing gearbox, nice steering feel and great seating position. But more and more I'm finding I need another two doors and so I'm considering buying a similar year Civic in sedan form. So would like to hear from people who have owned or driven both the hatchback and sedan version of this car and care to comment on how different the 4 door version of the Civic is to drive than my 5 door hatch. I'm not even sure if they used different engines or gearboxes in the sedan c/w the hatchback. Haven't been able to find much info on the Net going this far back. And lastly, if somebody has a manual Civic sedan around this same vintage ('89) for sale, please let me know. thanks in advance. Shane |

(slower acceleration, more body roll, longer braking distances.) |

That hatch seems to be much more common in the 1988 to 1991 model run. If
you're after a sedan, I would think that a more 'relaxed' drive would be priority. If that's the case, I'd step-up to a 1998 to 2000 Civic. The new model has the same suspension system as the older 89 model, but it's significantly more solid and refined.
