I've had this problem for quite some time now. I got the car last
Aug., but the noise started out during the winter and attributed the
lower temperature to the cause. However, when spring came, it became
worse and now, it's almost constant.

Before, the noise only came on when going over a bump or some uneven
roads, but now the window scrunch is almost constant, even when
travelling on very flat and smooth roads.

It's the most prevalent from the rear right window, but pretty much
all four windows make this noise. I know it's the window rubbing
against the window frame that's making this noise because when I roll
down the windows, the noise is gone.

Has anyone experienced this type of problem at all and actually have
fixed it permanently? I've been to two dealers to have it fixed, but
one didn't even know what to do with it and the other sparingly
applied some clear silicone gel into the window sills, but the noise
still came on even as I was driving out of the parking lot.

It's driving me nuts. It's gotten to the point of making my teeth
itch now. Someone told me that because my car's an SUV, it's prone to
more body flex, which in turn can make the noise with the windows.
Supposedly, it's short of a design defect. Any merit to this?

The silicone is the right answer. They probably didn't get it into the
right place. Get yourself some silicone lube and some Q-tips and try it
yourself. Also try some on the rubber seals between the doors and the body
in case its not really the windows.

My '00 Acura TL and '02 Pathfinder both developed squeaks around the windows
after a half year or so, and the Pathfinder also grew an obnoxious scrunch
sound as the front windows were raised. I used the aerosol version of
silicone lubricant in the window tracks and all the noises went away on both
of them. (The TL also required the rubber seals around the top of the
window frames to be lubed.)

Question... What in the hell is a scrunch?

It's this noise that's not quite a "squeak" and not quite a "crunch".
If you ever heard it, you'd know what I'm talking about. Looks as
though you haven't. Count yourself lucky. I mean it.

Right you were, E!! Thanks buddy. After I applied the silicone lube
cream along on the rubber seal of the door on the body, not the rubber
seal on the door, the noise went away!

I never would've figured to do that after the application on just the
window stripping. A big thanks to you, E! Now I can drive in peace.
No more of that noise that used to drive me up the wall and even made
my teeth itch. Thanks again.
