Which is worse? 100 lines in a post? Or a completely new post to "announce" it? |

The stupid, lazy top-posting with no trimming is far worse, obviously. |

>Grow up, get a life, etc. Go join a bottom-posting club for tossers. It's not about top vs. bottom posting. Only a top poster could think that the alternative is bottom posting. It's about discussions... which involve uhh, dialog. The medium was invented so that people could discuss and converse about many subjects where Q&A or theory&reasoning could be interspersed - IOW it's how we talk to each other in oral conversations. It's a medium of electronic debate, where quoting is used appropriately to emulate the usual oral debate. For those who just want to bark out like a dog or let off the odd brain-fart I suppose top posting seems to fit. Trouble is, you see, they never trim and we, often as not, get a single line retort followed by 100s of lines of wasted quote. Bandwidth is still important to many, as is survival time of posts on the news servers. It never ceases to amaze me that, when somone posts a series of paragraphed, numbered points/questions the response can be a series of numbered responses... all at the top. It's obtuse and ridiculous. Now if you want to respond to any of the above, surely it's easier for you and easier for the eventual reader, if you insert any response to the individual points I've made in situ, immediately after any particular point you take issue with. >-- > >"dizzy" <dizzy@nospan.com> wrote in message >news:1u53kvc29b85706sf88a7hr3qjnb4g38ap@4ax.com.. . >> On Mon, 18 Aug 2003 19:21:27 -0400, "Greg" <Greg@noreply.com> wrote: >> >> >Troll attack. As I said, you really have too much time on your hands. Top-posting
advocates have a good line of reasoning too... like not having to scroll through pages on text just to get to the latest post. But who cares? Having anal people like you (pa)trolling the Usenet just makes me want to top-post more. -- "dizzy" <dizzy@nospan.com> wrote in message news:akjakvoi6efd4c4e0tvmat57g278lm29p0@4ax.com... > On Wed, 20 Aug 2003 20:31:55 -0400, "Greg" <Greg@noreply.com> wrote: > > >Grow up, get a life, etc. Go join a bottom-posting club for tossers. > > Maybe you and the other top posters should grow a freaking brain cell, > and stop being so lazy and selfish. > > Grow up indeed.
