What do you mean by permanently damaged? A little swelling or
discoloration may go away with time.

I'm not really sure exactly .. it's like the paint is "stained" .. a grey
spot (what's the color of the metal under the paint?) .. though if i run my
finger over it, it's smooth.. level with the paint.. i noticed while the
alcohol was evaporating.. it evaporates faster over the "stain" than the
nice looking paint around it ...
