Does anyone have experience with hitch mounted bike racks on a 2003 CRV?
I'd like to have a hitch installed solely to use for a bike rack. I'd like to carry 4 bikes back there for short trips of 5 or 15 miles. I realize tongue weight may be a factor. My manual doesn't mention tongue weight directly. It implies 150 pounds. The bikes and the rack would weigh less than that. Also the additional passenger load would still be below Honda's recommendation. Any brands better than others? Thanks, Joe |

We have a hitch mounted bike rack on a 2000 CRV. At the time, we could only
find a 2 bike rack for a 1 1/4 inch square receiver, but I think there are 4 bike racks available now. - Steve "JNaysayer" <switalacrewNOSPAM@juno.com> wrote in message news:TbkXa.2878$jg.1886858@news1.news.adelphia.net ... > Does anyone have experience with hitch mounted bike racks on a 2003 CRV? > I'd like to have a hitch installed solely to use for a bike rack. > I'd like to carry 4 bikes back there for short trips of 5 or 15 miles. > I realize tongue weight may be a factor. i have a hitch on my 2001 civic EX, its great. i have one of those
Thule hitches. i am satisfied with it. i dont know if it would fit on a crv, but i am sure one is designed for it. www.thule.com On Sat, 09 Aug 2003 14:13:35 GMT, TomP <roadcyc@socal.rr.com> wrote: > at the link below you will find a 2" receiver hitch; 350 lbs tongue >weight. >That should get the job done. > >http://www.hitch-web.com/vhitch.asp?...D=24098&BPID=6 > >JNaysayer wrote: > >> Does anyone have experience with hitch mounted bike racks on a 2003 CRV? >> I'd like to have a hitch installed solely to use for a bike rack. >> I'd like to carry 4 bikes back there for short trips of 5 or 15 miles. >> I realize tongue weight may be a factor.
