Default What to do for a TALL person who wants a Honda Accord?

I am 6'5" and pretty tall from the waist up. I have been wanting an
accord for a while now and I have been test driving a few lately. I
was shocked to see how poorly I fit in this vehicle. My head
immediately hits the ceiling on a 2003 Accord EX. Yes, the LX doesn't
have the sunroof and that affords me some headroom but I like all the
added ameneties on the EX. What can I do other than buy a different
car? Do they make seats which are lower that I could put in? Should
I have some foam removed from the current seat? Should I have someone
weld to lower the seat? I really need some added headroom but I have
no idea how to get it. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the seat was at its lowest position? It is adjustable for
height....

Accords are out of the question for me, and I'm a little guy compared to
previous posters -- only 6'-3".

I couldn't drive or sit upright in my wife's old CRX, or even get
through the short top-to-bottom door opening without curling up, but her
two year-old Insight has lots of head and legroom. It's close enough to
the ground that getting in and out isn't easy.

i agree with you.. one of my ex-roommates was somewhere around the same
size.. had a '92 Accord LX .. He fit quite well in it.

Anything can be done for the proper amount of money, but if you customize
the seat for your height you have to take the space from somewhere, probably
the rear seat legroom.

I had the same problem, despite being merely 6'2". I don't like the feeling
of my head brushing the ceiling of the car. I ended up buying a Scion xB,
and I have five inches of clear air between my head and the ceiling of that
car! The only other car I have had with that sort of headroom was a VW bug,
which was designed when men wore hats!

Yea I know. The Honda Element does too and personally I think the
Element looks better than either scion. The accord is what I really
want. I just have to find a way to fit in it.

Aftermarket seats may be the ticket. Many have thinner cushions, particularly
the racing-oriented variety.

Dude-

I'm 6'4", 280 lbs and I bought a 2003 Accord LX V6 because of the
greater headroom without the sunroof.

Most comfortable car I've had since my 1990 Civic hatchback DX. The
only thing the highest-end EX had that I wanted was the V6.

The only other thing I wanted as far as "added nicities" were alloy
wheels, which I got aftermarket for a savings of about $600 over the
dealer.
