Default filling transmission oil

I have Honda civic 2001(5- speeds) and I am reading the manual to explain
how to check and add the transmission oil. They clearly said how to check
the transmission oil level by removing the filler bolt and entering a finger
to check the level. But they did not explain how to add?? where is the
filler??
any help please.

So...you understand how to check through the filler bolt....and you want to
know where the filler is?

Think.

From Stephen's message, you add via the filler bolt hole. I bought around
three feet of clear tygon tubing (available at Home Depot type places) of
1/2 inch diameter or so and pushed one end into the filler bolt hole. At the
other end, I fitted a funnel whose bottom was slightly smaller than the
tubing ID. Pour the transmission oil through this.

I recommend putting a dry oil pan beneath the filler hole to signal when
it's full.

Ok got your point!! so since it is called "filler" bolt then it should be
the same place where I should add the oil! Now from the picture in the
manual this filler bolt is so small!! that is why it did not cross my mind
this should be the place where I can add the oil. Now my question .. do I
need special tools to enforce the oil inside this small filler. Notice I did
not go to my car yet to see it, I am talking after saying the manual.
Thanks once again for the help.

PS: how about the automatic. In the manual they say remove the "dipstick" to
check the level!! now where the oil should be add? inside the whole that
hold the dipstick?? I am just curious.

I added a 1/2 inch diameter 90 degree elbow to mine. No kinks in the line
that way.

Good plan.

I have used the method of using the fish tank air bubble tube attached to a
funnel with duct tape BUT the best method is invest in an oil filler can
with a pump from your local auto part store. You fill the can with oil and
you pump it in a little at a time until it's all filled up.

The bad thing about having the pump is that you'll only use it every few
years.
