The Honda A/C's are fine as long as you keep moving. If you get stuck
in a lot of traffic, or can't really get moving after getting in a hot car, it will be difficult to cool. Both our '99 and our '03 worked perfectly in 110F Phoenix weather as long as we kept moving. The '03 does seem to be a little better than the '99. You might want to have it checked out at a reputable shop, but there is not much you can do about the design. Any A/C with R12 gas loses a LOT of efficiency when stationary

Did you mean R-134? All of the Honda's mentioned use R-134.

The car is still under warranty. I have a feeling that the dealer will say
that it is up to spec. I am in Vancouver, Canada, and I am sure the A/C will not take your kind of heat down at Phoenix; car moving or not. I will try, can't hurt, just time. -- Don NOSPAMddlee10@hotmail.com (remove 'NOSPAM' for email address) "Dick" <rhughes33@cableone.net> wrote in message news:tphhhv4t7u2quvlm14kh7rt6s8gs79b9tf@4ax.com... > The Honda A/C's are fine as long as you keep moving. Do you suppose insulating the hoses help?

>Any A/C with R12 gas loses a LOT of efficiency when stationary The refrigerant used doesn't matter. No A/C is going to work very well with the engine idling. At 1000 RPM, the compressor has only 1/3 the capacity it does at 3000 RPM. Even if you rev up the engine manually, you still have only the electric fan blowing air through the condenser, which is not as effective as if you were driving along. Dave |
