Honda Accord 199 Auto
bought second hand, reservoir for windscreen wash was empty when bought. Dont know how long it was in that state. There was a "floater" sponge like thing inside the reservoir which looks intact. I refilled it with fresh, cheap screen wash which smelt ok in the bottle. However everytime I use the screenwash while driving, its as if some buffalo has done its business on my car - the smell is so uncool. Any ideas on how to get rid of this smell? |

You may want to fill the resevior with water and run the washer until the water
empties, refill with water and continue to wash out the smell. It is a lot cheaper then using windshield washer fluid. A drop or two of dishwashing liquid in the water wouldn't hurt. If this doesn't work, then you didn't really waste any money to rinse our your system. Dish detergents are a good source of food for microorganisms so that
alone might make the stink worse. Adding a shot of rubbing alcohol, but not too much because it could hurt the paint, should help. For the purging, hydrogen peroxide should work great. Or look for a "winter" formulation.

It is a grunge collector, which starts to mold. When you use the washers, some drips through the grunge into the vents, smelling bad... --Gene |
