Unscrew it, and put it back in place after the wash is completed. Car wash operators have asked me to unscrew a Volkswagen roof mount antenna, which is only about ten inches in length. Better safe than sorry.

I usually take it off, because my preferred car wash has a big sign disclaiming responsibility for antennas. It usually goes on the dash while the van's going through the wash, and reinstalled just before I drive off. I only go to the water jet car wash. So I don't have to worry about the
antena on my CR-V. I'd never go to a car wash with brushes. Just imagine what one rock stuck in the brushes can do to the paint.
