I wouldn't worry about the factory speakers. I had no qualms about
chucking the factories into the garbage once I got Sony's. I would go
with a 2-way in the back and the 3-way up front.

well, yeah.. i have no issues with getting rid of cheap factory speakers
either. ... but seeing as my wife is not as musically and
electronically inclined as I am.. it's hard to explain to her the sound
difference.

my main concern was if the factory speakers would last long enough for me
to get new speakers.

Turn it down a bit when you hear the speaker bottom out.
