I used to own a 2001 Civic with and I now own a 2002 CR-V.
The CR-V AC is much more efficient than the one in the Civic. Even on a very hot day it blows cold air right after the engine was started. I think that it has a lot to do with the MAX AC mode which the CR-V has and the Civic doesn't. BTW, at some point I had my front bumper removed because my front fender was slightly bent and I was able to fully see the radiators. The CR-V has 2 full size radiators where the AC one is in the front of the engine coolant one. This makes each radiator twice as big as the ones I've seen in the previous generation Civic. In the Civic the radiators were side by side. The 92 Civic service manual contains a large graph that gives the range of air temperatures you should expect, based on outside temperature and humidity, for a particular set of running conditions. Is this missing from later service manuals? Performance does depend on the condition of the ambient air, but that doesn't mean there are no standards for what the A/C should do. Dave |
