I seem to remember my mom owning an air cooled Honda Civic in the
early 80's. Is this possible or am I confused. Were there _ever_ any
air cooled Honda Cars sold in North America?

Anywhere in the world?

Were these the minicars with the little12- or 13-inch wheels that were
produced in the 1970s?

They had 10 inch wheels I believe and were sold in the US until 1972.
The first Civics were introduced in 1973 with 12 inch wheels.

Yes, I think that they were the S600 sedan and the AN600 coupe. They were
punched-out versions of the 360cc minicars sold in Japan.

They were quite popular as "dinghys" to tow behind motorhomes. Some
motorhome folks even had hitches made that lifted the front wheels off the
ground and towed only on the rear wheels, so there was no wear on the
drivetrain and no miles registered on the odometer.

IIRC, it was the z600, with a 600 cc engine, and the current rally-style
shifter coming from the dash. saw one at a junkyard a year or so ago.

No, but holy crow that's a cool little car.

No, I think my mom was driving around in an 1980 honda civic talking
about how she _used_ to own an air cooled Honda car back in the early
70's.
