I'd advise maybe something better to do with your time than nic pick the usenet. The problem was solved by disconnecting the battery and entering the code. Turn the ignition to power only, and turn the radio on. Sure, that won't drain a thing. The electricity comes from the sky - not the battery. |

The radio draws less than an amp unless you crank the volume way up. Turn it on for an hour and you'll use about 3% of the battery's capacity. With a typical alternator it will take about 30 seconds to recharge the battery after the engine is started. |

Something tells me that our friend Gary Seven thinks that car batteries run down like disposable flashlight batteries. I give up. I should have known better than to try to explain something to an obscure Star Trek character. |

And only a huge idiot doesn't know that the alternator will recharge the battery, such that leaving the radio on for an hour is meaningless once you've driven the car an mile or so. |

And an even greater idiot knows that if the battery were completely drained the vehicle would not start thus making the "miracle mile" of yours moot. |

The radio, sitting there, turned on but doing nothing except displaying "code error", draws virtually NO power. And yet, here you are, whining about how you don't want to leave the radio on because that will draw power--even though those are the very instructions that Honda gives for getting rid of such an error. What about leaving the radio on for an hour don't you like? You said you don't want to use the power required for that, even though people here have told you time and again that your alternator will replace that power into the battery in no time flat. A new battery running a radio that's playing no signal, and hence has no amplification happening, will not even notice that it was being used for that purpose for an hour. What about all of this don't you want? You want the world, ****head. You want a solution that requires no battery use, even though the system wasn't designed for that. |

Yes, I wanted a solution that didn't drain the battery at all... and thats what I got. Problem is solved without leaving the keys in the ignition, with the power on. You have to say "****head" 30 more times then you will officially be an expert in everything and a true man. Because real men watch football, drunk Bud and swear every word. I guess I circumvented the system design than. I'm a genius! |

Why don't you just idle the car for an hour with the radio on and then
re-enter the code. I think you have 3 attempts every hour from what i remember, and being that there are 10 possible numbers and 4 digits on my radio that means that the combinations are 10 to the 4th power or 22.8 years to guess the combination if done continuosly round the clock without stopping. > > yeah sure.
